The Black Youth Leadership Development Institute (BYLDI) seeks to engage youth, their parents, community organizations, leaders and allies in building a web of support that nurtures the leadership abilities of youth while raising their consciousness regarding the environmental health problems impacting their communities. The BYLDI has an intentional focus of building youth leaders from targeted communities and connecting those youth leaders to existing organizations within their communities.

BYLDI's priority is threefold: (1) nurture the next generation of youth leaders; (2) build the youth wings of existing organizations; and/or (3) help youth create their own environmentally-focused initiatives and/or organizations. The BYLDI has three phases:
  • Summer Intensive Institute - St. Simon's Island, GA
  • Public Policy and Advocacy Institute - Washington, DC
  • International Intensive Institute - Senegal, West Africa
